About Lawyers4Learners

Founded by barrister Caley Wright and school governor Louise Jones, both realised that public speaking, whilst a crucial life skill, was inconsistently taught in state schools. Sometimes it isn’t taught at all. It became clear that with a wealth of oracy experience from their legal careers, lawyers could go into schools and deliver workshops giving all children a chance to improve their analytic and argument forming skills, to learn to debate and negotiate and give them the confidence to speak publicly.

I’m so pleased that having identified this gap in children’s education we are now out there, with a bunch of highly qualified lawyers, helping children with their public speaking.

As well as seeing the children’s confidence grow before your eyes, I also love facilitating the volunteer experience. Many of our volunteer lawyers haven’t stepped foot in a school since they were there themselves and to see their joy and enthusiasm working with the children is fantastic.

As a co-founder of Lawyers4Learners I have enjoyed designing and running the innovative workshops for Lawyers4Learners, that bring lawyers into schools to engage with students, helping them build confidence in speaking, listening, and debating.
